Baselworld is already a fading memory for many of us who attended, but for Hodinkee and Carl F. Bucherer it was a chance to make some really lasting memories for the lucky winner of our "Bring Me To Baselworld" contest, with winner Nathaniel Coghlan of Indiana. Nathaniel was the guest of Carl F. Bucherer for three days and nights, with a chance to experience not only the show itself, but to get a real insider's view of the show and the Brand in a meeting with Carl F. Bucherer CEO and industry veteran, Sascha Moeri.
Carl. F. Bucherer is perhaps best known for its TravelTec watches, which are multifunction, multi-time zone watches, but it's also well known, especially amongst enthusiasts, for its development of the A1000 series of movements, which feature an unusual bridge architecture, as well as a special mounting and locking system for the balance spring outer attachment, or stud holder, and regulator. This allows the rate of the watch, as well as the beat error, to be adjusted and once adjusted, "locked in" (unlike conventional systems which rely on friction fittings, and are thus susceptible to shock-induced drifting of the regulator and stud holder).
“How was it? In a word, amazing. Everyone from Carl F. Bucherer was warm and welcoming, and the Carl F. Bucherer booth was nicer than my house, so hanging out there was truly awesome. It's a rare and wonderful thing to be able to speak about watches without worrying that I'm boring everyone to death. And of course I was the proverbial kid in the candy shop at Baselworld.” --Nathaniel Coghlan

A final congratulations to Nathan, who was a treat to have with us during the show, and of course a huge thank you to contest sponsor Carl F. Bucherer for making it all possible!
