Today in Cupertino, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced a few updates to the Apple Watch, including a variety of new straps, and, perhaps most interestingly, a drop in the starting price for the Apple Watch Sport. The announcement did not include a new device or software upgrade, which are widely speculated to be in the pipeline for later this year.
The new straps, which will join the existing Sport Band, Leather, and Milanese and Link stainless steel options, include new versions of the Sport and Leather bands, a Space Black version of the Milanese Loop (above), and a brand new line of woven nylon bands in a variety of colors (see below).
Additionally, Cook announced that the Apple Watch would now start at $299 – down from the existing $349. Is this simply a move aimed at putting the Apple Watch on more wrists, or an indication that a new device is heading our way in the near future? We shall have to wait and see.
