Introducing: The H. Moser Pioneer Perpetual – A Favorite Now Comes With A More Casual Vibe And 120 Meter Water Resistance

Live from Baselword 2016, we have a fresh look at a modern classic from H. Moser & Cie. Moser is, of course, the brand that made waves a few months back with the Swiss Alp watch, but while that was a dose of Swiss humour mixed with marketing gimmickry, Moser is best known amongst aficionados for its ingenious perpetual calendar (which we reviewed here). Now we see the very same caliber, but up-sized to fit into a more casual case, and with 120 meter water resistance! That is, for a perpetual calendar, pretty fantastic.

H. Moser Pioneer Perpetual

Called the Pioneer Perpetual, this new watch comes in 42.8mm case that is made of both 5n red gold and black DLC-finished titanium, for a much more aggressive look than previously seen in the Endeavour perpetual. We've got a fumé dial, and leaf-shaped, SuperLuminova-filled hands. You'll also see Superluminova on the hour markers of the flange for great visibility.

All this plus a new 120 meter water resistant case and you have one of the coolest, most usable perpetual calendars ever developed. Is it the deepest diving QP? It's not – UN made one that went to 200m and IWC of course has a QP in its Aquatimer family – but still, this is a very charming, functional watch that we're sure people will like. It comes on either a rubber or black croc strap, thought we'd certainly opt for rubber on this one.
