It's that time of year again, folks! Yup, the watch industry's week-long mega-orgy of new releases kicks off later this week and team HODINKEE will be there in full force. Baselworld 2016 will be an interesting one – with the the full impact of Apple and others' entrance into wrist wearables now being felt, and a seemingly slowing global economy, things seem tougher than ever for the Swiss watch industry. Will we see smaller, more wallet-friendly novelties – a trend we saw at SIHH? Stay tuned to HODINKEE to find out – and the best way to do that? HODINKEE Live, of course!
Wait, What's HODINKEE Live Again?
HODINKEE Live is our own, in-house-designed and developed live feed for big events. We launched it during SIHH 2016 this January and the response to our behind-the-scenes, candid looks at one of the watch industry's biggest trade shows was through the roof, so naturally we're bringing it back for Baselworld 2016. What you'll see are totally unfiltered, off-the-cuff thoughts, photos, and videos from the entire HODINKEE editorial team. We are talking way, way, inside-baseball here, people – not the same stuff you'll see on Instagram or Twitter.
How Do I See HODINKEE Live @ Baselworld?
The best way to view HODINKEE Live is via our native app, which is free to download right here. This way you'll receive our push notifications for not only new stories, but also when we turn HODINKEE Live off and on. The other way to view HODINKEE Live is via the web at live.hodinkee.com.
But What About Instagram, Facebook, And Twitter?
Don't worry, we'll see be on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, as always. HODINKEE Live is something else entirely, for those people who want to experience Baselworld just like we do. Still, be sure to follow us here, here, and here.
When Does The Fun Begin?
Well, we fly tonight. So you can expect to see a few HODINKEE Live updates from the airport, but the fun doesn't really begin until Wednesday (press day), and the show officially begins on Thursday. As always, check back right here for more on what is indisputably the most important week of the year for the watch world.
